Charleston Fishing Company
Charleston Fishing Company is owned and managed by Stephen Fields, a maritime officer, and US Coast Guard certified captain, offers chartered fishing trips and boating tours around South Carolina. Captain Fields wanted a website that was professional while remaining fun and sporty, just like him.
When we started designing Charleston Fishing Company’s website, we were inspired by the challenge to incorporate sporty, fun and professional. We decide to focus mainly on photos to visually captivate site visitors and give them a taste of what adventures were coming. The photos are diagonally cropped and laid out on the site with parallax scrolling which provides a little bit of motion without being distracting. The entire theme was created from scratch to carry out the unique design throughout the site.
We built a responsive theme from scratch based on the approved web design. This allowed us to customize more on the site and code it to look and work exactly how we wanted it to. The parallax scrolling is the main quirky feature of the site which we incorporated into the theme.
After we finished all the aesthetics, it was now time to move on to the backend development. We know fishing is a sport that requires patience but we optimized the site to load at its fastest. Aside from page speed optimization we also created a custom post type for Captain Field’s fishing reports and integrated online booking that leads to their 3rd party reservation service. Lastly, to keep it friendly and modern, we installed social media widgets on the site’s footer.
The Charleston Fishing Company site has been one of our favorite projects. We enjoy giving people like Captain Fields and his business a boost with beautiful, well built sites.
